RadioTuner version 1.0 is here!
What is new in this version:
- - much improved streaming
- - no problems switching stations
- - new graphical user interface
- - interface displays RealPlayer status (i.e., contacting, buffering)
- - does not use any processing resources when not in use
- - checks if the RealPlayer plugin is installed

best radio widget I have seen/used so far!
whereas others used to crash or just not work, radio tuner is simple elegant and very fast (ie loading etc).

I agree with davidb who posted a comments earlier, i think the next step would be to have the url list set as an rss so that the widget could update its menu dynamically. This would dramatically leave any other radio widget way behind!
Anyway, Radio tuner is a perfect use of technology, bravo!

Thanks. Your web page has rather poor descriptions of some stations. And this list could be much longer ... Plus many stations don't work when you put them into the RadioTuner widget. Thanks anyway.

Best radio widget by far! Only thing that doesn't work is the volume slider which is stuck in the middle, although the play/stop button works fine...

There's an app called Airfoil which will "hijack" any sound and re-route it to your remote speakers

Here is some constructive feedback as I had some trouble getting RadioTuner working:
1) Install the new RealPlayer 10. RealOne Player, even the updated 9.0 version for Tiger, will not work. I'm not sure what the real difference is between RealOne Player and RealPlayer, as both work and both are updated for Tiger, but the widget requires the new RealPlayer 10. Uninstall RealPlayer One; launch RealPlayer 10; launch RadioTuner. It should work. Then you can quit RealPlayer 10 completely and the widget will run independently.
2) For whatever reason the volume control does not work for me.

Hello, your widget is AMAZINGLY cool AND beautiful ! but could you add a field for tag information like i think some radio stations send the name of the songs that they are just playing ... i always have to look it up on the Homepage of the Swedish Station i like to listen to and even have to click the open radio button and close it so i dont listen to the same station twice
of course this should be a "to chose" option, because other people dont need it and want more space, but a nice field with tag information would be cool and make the app PERFECT ! ^^

Thanks a lot for your super cool widget. I can't imagine my Mac without it anymore!. I had a question, Is there a way to back up the stations I have installed? I am formatting my laptop in a few days, and don't wish to add my stations again. If I save the widget and move elsewhere, would it save its current state?

At the time, there is no straight forward way to backup the stations. You can try the following (at you own risk):
Dashboard saves the stations in the preferences folder ([your home directory]/Library/Preferences/
The file you are looking for should be named
widget-net.wuersch.widget.radiotuner.plist
- backup this file
- after you reinstalled everything, including RadioTuner, replace the file with your backup.
theoretically, this should work... but like I said: at your own risk

I didn't have a problem getting the url on the widget, entered the call letters of the station, and hit share. Filled out the share information, and didn't get a stream until I also loaded the url in my iTunes library.
It works great, fantastic sound.

The only thing I dislike is the graphics of the circle around the Play/Pause button and of the curve at the other end. You can improve this. Look at how Apple handles the curves at ends of the Yellow Pages widget, for example.
